All images created with Illustrator are called ‘vector’ graphics. Vector editors are often contrasted with bitmap editors, and their capabilities complement each other. Vector is normally the best formate for typography, logos, sharp-edged artistic illustrations, technical illustrations, diagramming and flowcharting. This is due to the ability to grow or shrink the image without losing quality or creating a pixelated effect seen from resizing in Photoshop or a wordprocessor.
